Farmers’ Electric Members who have life-threatening health conditions have the opportunity to join the Life Support Registry and make the Cooperative aware of their dependence on electricity for the operation of home health equipment.
The Cooperative can provide Members on the registry with:
(1) Advance notice of planned power disruptions for maintenance
(2) Information to help make decisions regarding their health and comfort
(3) Help caregivers evaluate the need to evacuate to a shelter or other accommodations if there is an extended outage
The Registry allows the Cooperative to consider a Member's health condition whenever possible. However, placement on the Registry does not guarantee uninterrupted service, prevent electric service disruption, or relieve a Member's responsibility to maintain an account in good standing. Nor does the registry guarantee that Members with medical conditions will have their electric service restored before others in their area following a natural or man-made power disruption, without first considering the greater good and safety of the general public.
