Area Youth Benefit Fund

Area Youth Benefit Fund

In 1993, Farmers' Electric Cooperative established the Area Youth Benefit Fund (AYBF) for the purpose of providing financial assistance toward the payment of medical bills for children 18 years of age and under. The fund is designed to assist families with children who have been ill or injured.  Assistance is available for families regardless of whether or not they are insured.

The fund primarily operates in the counties of Caldwell, Carroll, Chariton, Clinton, Daviess, DeKalb, Linn, Livingston and Ray. A family who receives electricity from Farmers' Electric Cooperative, but resides in a county not listed above also qualifies for AYBF assistance. A family that resides in the counties listed above does not have to be a member of the cooperative to receive financial assistance. The AYBF is a 501 (c)3 charity.

A separate board of directors has been named to administer the AYBF. All applications for assistance will be made to them and the directors have been empowered to administer the fund as they so choose.

Overall, Farmers' Electric has distributed over $750,000 to 661 families in north Missouri. The fund is supported by an annual dinner-auction and golf tournament held each August, as well as by Members of Farmers' Electric Cooperative through the Operation Roundup Program.

Operation Round Up®

Change is good

With Operation Round Up®, your spare change can help to make a tremendous difference in the lives of those who need help within our community. Help us to help others by participating in our Operation Round Up® program. By signing up, your electric bill is ‘rounded up’ to the next highest whole dollar amount. For instance, if your actual electric bill is $83.87, it will be rounded up to $84. The additional 13 cents provides monetary assistance for the Area Youth Benefit Fund.

Average contributions are only about $6 per year, and never exceed 99 cents in a single month. Individually, the amount contributed to Operation Round Up® may not seem significant, but put this change together and it can go a long way in making a difference within our community.  In the last year, Members of Farmers' Electric contributed nearly $5,500 through the Operation Round Up® Program. Set up your account today by giving us a call or stop by the business office!
